Oscars 2017: The most expensive and jaw-dropping jewellery

February 28, 2017

While many eyes were fixated on the fashionable dresses A-list actresses wore to the 2017 Oscars, it was the jewels they donned that really caught our attention. From stunning statement necklaces to incredible earrings, diamonds and rare gemstones were a prominent part of each celeb’s style on Sunday. Here are some of the most incredible. -- Sarah Walker

Also wearing Tiffany & Co. was Best Actress winner Emma Stone. The La La Land star adorned her Givenchy, floor-grazing dress with "Whispers of the Rain Forest" earrings in platinum and 18K Gold. She also sported the company's "Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow" ring with a yellow diamond centre-stone surrounded by several smaller white and yellow diamonds. (A similar ring retails for $110,000.)

Ruth Negga, a Best Actress nominee for Loving, opted for simplicity with her accessories (which in no way undermined their beauty). To complement her red Valentino dress, the star wore a stunning headpiece from Irene Neuwirth that was made from ethically sourced rubies in Mozambique. Her earrings and ring were crafted by the same designer.

Charlize Theron accessorized her beautiful gold lamé Dior gown with out-of-this-world pear-shaped diamond earrings from Chopard. Set in white gold, each earring weighed in at a whopping 60 carats. Less prominent though no less stunning was the actress’s 12-carat ring, also from Chopard.

Many a fan also rejoiced in seeing Jennifer Aniston at the event. Though she skipped the red carpet, she appeared on stage to present the "In Memoriam" portion of the night. Wearing an incredible black, sparkly gown she reportedly donned a mind-blowing $10 million-plus of jewelry from Lorraine Schwartz (diamond emerald cut earrings and a diamond ring).

One of the most eye-popping jewelry moments of the night was the choker worn by Jessica Biel that complemented her Kaufman Franco gown. The “Whispers of the Rain Forest” necklace from Tiffany & Co. contained over 350 uniquely shaped 18-carat gold fronds and more than 200 baguette diamonds. It weighed in at roughly 60 carats.

Janelle Monae was one of the more adventurously dressed celebs on the red carpet, and one of the reasons was the $1.5 million worth of Forevermark diamonds she donned. To match her futuristic and rocker-ish Elie Saab ensemble, she sported several exceptional pieces, including an incredible floral necklace and eye-popping earrings from the jeweller.

To go with the Victorian vibe of her Gucci gown, Dakota Johnson donned a beautiful vintage necklace from Cartier, which we can only assume is valued into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. The piece, from 1958, highlighted the neckline of the ensemble perfectly. The 27-year-old also wore two vintage rings from the designer: one from 1945 and another from 1946.
