Kate Moss is using her maternal side to help nurture the careers of the protégés signed to her new modelling agency, the Kate Moss Agency. The 43-year-old opened up about her new role as a model agent in an interview with Vogue magazine, admitted it had felt like a "natural thing" to do in her career.

"As a model I am prepared to stand in a bikini at the end of an ice glacier when it’s minus 30, because that is what the client has booked me to do and that’s the job," she told the fashion magazine about launching the agency. "So, as I get older, it seemed like the natural thing to do was to take responsibility for my choices both as a model and with the branding I put my name to."

Kate also explained that she tries to shield the budding models from potential problems that she faced when she was starting her career. "It can be really hard," she said. "I'm maternal; I don't want the girls to feel insecure. "The model launched her agency after leaving her reps Storm Models in April. She has previously explained how she had become a mentor figure to younger models including Cara Delevingne over the past few years in an interview with Business of Fashion in October. Kate said: "There are all these young kids and when Cara [Delevingne] came to me, she wasn't well and I was like, 'Babe, I am going to take you to a doctor,' you know, because I've been there."

The model credited Naomi Campbell for supporting her at the start of her career

She added: "I've got a maternal side and I'd like to take care of them and nurture them so they grow to their full capacity in anything they'd like to do, instead of being used up and tossed out, because I think that can happen a lot with things working so quickly. "Kate also credited her longtime friend and fellow model Naomi Campbell for supporting her when she was starting her career. "Naomi took complete care of me.  She'd say, 'Calm down.' I think because you're alone a lot of the time, you really need guidance," Kate admitted. "Even now you're expected to do anything to get the picture, and that's a work ethic, but you also need a support system."
