How Topshop's vinyl trousers became an unexpected style hit

March 10, 2017

A pair of skintight vinyl trousers is becoming Topshop's unexpected fly-off-the-shelves hit after a legion of fashion-forward celebrities have been spotted in the style. The high street giant's vinyl 'Jamie' jeans, £55, are fast selling out after DJ Chelsea Leyland, 29, wore a red pair to the store's recent London Fashion Week show. The wipe-down skinny trousers, which come in five colourways, are inspired by the 90’s and work well with textured knits, a simple tee or a crisp white shirt.

The Topshop Jamie vinyl trousers have proved a huge style hit

British-born Chelsea who lives in New York and who has DJ'd alongside Harry Styles, went for a Pop Art, colour-blocking style, teaming hers with a pale yellow jacket, baby pink crop top and platform heels.

Los Angeles-based Instagram sensation and style blogger Amy Song, (@songofstyle) has been spotted in red and black versions of the trousers. Meanwhile supermodel Giselle Bundchen, 36, and British style icon Alexa Chung, 33, own a strikingly similar pair in black too. Their black wipe-down trousers are by Italian-Belgian designer Anthony Vacarrello and cost around £650, making Topshop's pair a veritable bargain.

Gisele has worn her pants several times and posted a picture of herself in the skintight trousers teamed with stilettoes and a grey jumper for an appearance earlier this year on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The Vacarrello pants have totally sold out on high-end Fashion shopping site netaporter.com.
