All eyes were on Serena Williams as she hit the Met Gala red carpet – her first public appearance since announcing her pregnancy. The tennis star, 35, stunned in a gorgeous emerald green Atelier Versace halter dress that highlighted her growing baby bump as she posed alongside fiancé Alexis Ohanian. Serena competed her look with sleek, straight hair and some statement jewellery, including a striking pair of diamond and emerald drop earrings.
Serena and Reddit co-founder Alexis, 34, announced their engagement in December, and in April came the happy news that they are expecting their first baby together.
Selena Gomez and The Weeknd made their romance red carpet official as they stepped out together at the 2017 Met Gala. The couple could barely keep their hands off each other as they posed for cameras on the famous staircase, sharing kisses and gazing lovingly at one another as they made their way inside the high-fashion event.
They weren't the only couple making their debut at the gala. Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez also went public with their romance. The high-profile pair, who started dating earlier this year, gazed lovingly at each other as they arrived for the event, with 47-year-old Jennifer turning heads in a light blue custom Valentino gown.
Kylie Jenner chose to ignore Met Gala rules banning selfies, and posted a star-studded bathroom photo – much to the delight of her Instagram followers. The image, which rivals Ellen DeGeneres' famous Oscars picture, features the likes of Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Lily Aldridge, A$AP Rocky, Puff Daddy, Brie Larson and Paris Jackson, and has racked up more than 1.8 million likes.
Jaden Smith's highly-unusual red carpet accessory certainly got people talking. The 18-year-old, who recently cut off his dreadlocks for a film role, decided to bring his own hair along to the Met Gala, as a replacement for his sister Willow! Explaining the move to Vogue's Andre Leon, the teen said: "Since I couldn't bring my sister as a date, I brought my old hair."
Gwyneth Paltrow once vowed to never attend the 'unfun' Met Gala again. But she made a dramatic U-turn on Monday night when she stepped out for the 2017 event. The 44-year-old turned heads in a custom blush pink Calvin Klein dress featuring a thigh-high split, which she teamed with a pair of black heels. Earlier on Monday, Gwyneth had teased about her Met Gala return, posting a throwback photo on Instagram which she captioned: "My first ever Met Ball in 1995. #calvinklein #fullcirclemomentcomingup."
Celine Dion made her Met Gala debut on Monday – and it was certainly worth the wait. The superstar singer brought drama to the event in an edgy black and silver Versace gown, which she teamed with a sculpted black head-piece and dark, dramatic eye makeup. Celine also delighted fans by belting out an impromptu number on the red carpet, singing: "I want to meet everybody at the Met. I want to meet everybody at the Met…"
Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys turned heads when they arrived for the gala in opposite outfits. The Americans co-stars, who have been together since 2013, seemed to have swapped clothes, with Keri choosing to wear tuxedo trouser suit and her partner stepping out in a traditional Welsh kilt, which he teamed with a suit, tie and jacket.
Cara Delevingne upped the ante again this year. The 24-year-old British model made a typically dramatic entrance in a futuristic metallic Chanel trouser suit featuring a plunging neckline - and to complete her stand-out look, the star had also painted her newly-shaved head silver.
