High street favourite Primark unveiled a new pair of bow-adorned backless mules on Instagram on Wednesday. Customers have the choice of three styles - dark denim, black and nude, which are on sale for an ultra-affordable £8. But upon closer inspection, it seems that the high street brand has been influenced by Prada’s ultra-covetable velvet slipper shoe which retails at a more costly £475. The launch gives us the opportunity to own a pair of similar shoes at a fraction of the price. As a result, fans around the world are frantically trying to get their hands on a pair.

Primark's version will set you back £8 - if you can get your hands on them
It is little wonder that Primark were inspired by Prada’s stunning velvet slippers. Adorned with an oversized grosgrain bow, the luxurious slippers come in two timeless shades - midnight blue and black - and are the perfect thing to round off a fashion-forward day-to-night ensemble.
Recently, the high street has been on top form when it comes to giving designers a run for their money. A new recent trend has seen affordable wedding dresses being sold in popular stores, and last month Primark caused another media frenzy by unveiling its debut collection of bridal accessories and homeware on Snapchat. The preview photos showed a stunning range of white lace lingerie sets, and a embroidered ‘Mrs’ dressing gown, along with matching ‘Mr & Mrs’ mugs and cream love heart cushions.
Topshop has also launched a collection of lust-worthy wedding gowns. The British brand debuted their Topshop Bridal range on 13th April with prices starting at £125 for bridesmaids dresses and £500 for wedding dresses. Designs include a Victorian-inspired embellished floor-length gown featuring delicate cut-work. There is also an oh-so-flattering satin prom style tulle dress, which, according to the store’s website, is designed to: “cleverly sculpt and shape your silhouette.” If that’s not enough, there are a further 25 bridesmaid’s dresses to choose from, allowing for brides-to-be to find that perfect dress at a fraction of the cost.
