What will Carole Middleton wear to daughter Pippa’s wedding?

The mother of the bride is likely to choose an elegant, tailored look

May 12, 2017

Pippa Middleton’s spring nuptials at St Mark’s Church in Englefield are fast approaching. Though we’re desperate to know what the bride-to-be’s wedding gown will look like, we’re also keen to get an idea of the look Carole Middleton will step out in for her daughter’s big day.

Carole’s go-to designers include Catherine Walker & Co. and L.K. Bennett, and the 62-year-old tends to choose tailored pieces with a calf-skimming hemline and just the right amount of structure. When it comes to shoes, she usually goes for leg-lengthening nude court styles with a mid-height heel. With these facts in mind, it’s likely that she will go for similar styles for Pippa’s long-awaited wedding on the 20th May.

She chose an elegant sky blue Catherine Walker & Co. coat dress for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding in 2011 which she paired with cream court shoes, a co-ordinating clutch bag and a hat by Berkshire-based Jane Corbett.

At Royal Ascot in 2012 Carole stepped out in a traffic-stopping red number teamed with a pair of taupe-hued shoes, while at Prince George’s christening at St. James’s Palace in October 2013 the mother of the bride-to-be plumped for a lace-adorned royal blue coat by Catherine Walker & Co. Dove grey Jane Corbett hat.

In terms of colour, Carole’s outfit for Pippa’s wedding will no doubt complement the ensembles chosen by the rest of the bridal party. It would be a faux pas for her to arrive wearing the same colour as the mother of the groom - or an all-white look - and hence the theme will have been planned well in advance.

At the royal wedding, Carole’s sophisticated look worked beautifully with the Queen’s lovely lemon outfit and the Duchess of Cornwall’s tailored mint ensemble. In the run up to the ceremony in 2011 Carole considered a dress by British couturier Lindka Cierach and a hat by Jess Collett but decided against them both at the last minute.

Last month, the 62-year-old was spotted arriving at Pippa’s house alongside celebrity milliner Stephen Jones. The go-to man when it comes to flamboyant, fashion-forward hats, Mr Jones may well be crafting an eye-catching piece for Carole to wear on the day of her daughter’s wedding.
