PETA bosses have urged Rihanna to donate her fur jackets to charity. Animal rights charity PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) often targets high-profile celebrities, with Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lawrence and Beyonce all previously feeling the wrath of the organisation.

PETA has now set its sights on 29-year-old Rihanna, after she stepped out in a long fur coat at Dior's recent Cruise show in California. "We saw the numerous comments from fans who were disappointed to see you wearing fur at the Dior event last week," PETA's senior communications manager Andrew Bernstein wrote in a letter to the Diamonds singer. "Like us, they wish you would please retire your furs and instead choose a look that kills but doesn't actually kill anyone.

“Please accept this faux fur as a gift from PETA. In addition, we'd like to request that you please consider donating your furs to us.” Andrew goes on to explain that coats and accessories made out of the animal product cause a “tremendous amount of pain and suffering to the foxes, minks, and coyotes” who are killed for their fur.
He adds that the fur industry also harms the environment because of the chemicals needed to treat the fur are getting into rivers and streams. "Your donated furs would go to good use. In the past, we've sent furs to Syrian refugees and to homeless shelters, which has an impact on 'as many lives as possible in a positive way,' as you said so eloquently in your Harvard Humanitarian Award acceptance speech,” Andrew concluded.
Rihanna won the prestigious award in February for her charitable efforts, including with her own Clara Lionel Foundation, which helps impoverished communities across the globe, with healthcare and education.
