The Duchess of Cambridge wears a pink Alexander McQueen ensemble for sister Pippa’s wedding

May 20, 2017

The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out in an understated powder-pink number by British designer Alexander McQueen for her younger sister Pippa’s wedding to hedge-fund manager James Matthews on Saturday morning. With pleat detailing to the back and buttons on the cuffs, Kate looked fantastic in her bespoke, ultra-feminine ensemble. She accessorised with a pair of nude court shoes, a pretty rose-adorned headpiece and special edition earrings by Kiki McDonough. Prince William was dressed in a snappy tailored suit, ivory satin waistcoat and a crimson tie.

Kate wore her dark hair in a chic side-swept chignon. Make-up-wise, the 35-year-old opted for a semi-sheer, radiant base enlivened with a sweep of soft pink blush and a subtly smoky eye with plenty of mascara - perhaps a waterproof formula just incase she became tearful while watching her little sister tie the knot. Her elegant beauty look was rounded off with a timeless, neutral-toned lip.

Always a picture of sophistication, the Duchess gravitates towards classic, tailored looks and her favourite designers include Temperley London and Jenny Packham.

She is also a fan of British high street brands - from Karen Millen to Whistles. Last month she arrived at the Easter Sunday service at Windsor Castle dressed in a custom-made cream coat by Catherine Walker & Co, and a pair of nude-toned court shoes.

To marry Prince William at Westminster Abbey in 2011, Kate wore a beautiful, long-sleeved ivory gown designed by Sarah Burton, creative director of Alexander McQueen. Adorned with lace crafted at the Royal School of Needlework, the creation became truly iconic and was copied to high heaven by high-end designers and high street brands alike.
