The super stylists who've dressed some of Hollywood's hottest names

From Sienna Miller and Sarah Jessica Parker to Lupita Nyong’o and Margot Robbie, these uber stylists sure know a thing or two about cool-girl dressing...

May 24, 2017

Ever wondered how A-listers have time to sell records worldwide, break the box office and amass more Instagram followers than the entire population of the UK and Ireland put together (yep that’s you, Selena Gomez), and still manage to look fabulous? It’s all thanks to these uber stylists who are also now gracing the best-dressed lists themselves…

Victoria Sekrier

Model-turned-stylist, Victoria Sekrier is best known for her work with the Academy Award-winning Alicia Vikander – and trust us when we say if anyone has the red carpet sussed it’s Alicia (or, rather, Victoria). The Russian-born stylist has already made a name for herself when it comes to street style, frequently being papped thanks to her effortlessly cool mix of masculine tailoring with a feminine twist. Think crepe skirts with tough biker boots, a classic trench worn over a hoodie and an array of must-have flats (Rosetta Getty backless mules being her current fave, FYI). Favourite shop: The Apartment in Copenhagen.

Kate Young

Regarded as one of the most powerful stylists in Hollywood and the brains behind the style evolution of Selena Gomez, Kate has serious credentials. From editorial assistant to fashion PR, runway to red carpet, her plethora of experience has armed her with the skills to dress Sienna Miller, Margot Robbie, Michelle Williams and Natalie Portman (phew!). Her own wardrobe, which consists of a lot of black, is filled with well-designed twists on classics – be it Céline flats or a Proenza Schouler biker jacket. Fashion no-nos: ‘Boingy’ T-shirts or any fabric that snaps back even stronger than you pull it.

Karla Welch

Catapulted into the spotlight, for her style as much as her acting talent, Ruth Negga can give some of the credit to her stylist Karla. Far from being a newbie to the celebrity red carpet, Karla can also claim credit for dressing Justin Bieber, Olivia Wilde and Michelle Monaghan. Along with her personal uniform of Ossie Clark vintage dresses, or jeans and classic Timberlands, Karla invests in red carpet pieces of her own, including a bunch of tuxedos and a green Prada dress that was shown in a Met exhibition. Wardrobe staple: Levi’s jeans.

Erin Walsh

With a knack for what she calls the “odd bird” look, this translates into Erin’s wardrobe as well as that of her clients, who include Sarah Jessica Parker, Kerry Washington and Thandie Newton. Kooky prints are mixed with patchwork fur, stripes are layered on stripes, while a fringed silk skirt is paired with playful oversized velvet bow courts. Her mantra, “interesting is always the most fun and inspiring”, is one we couldn’t agree with more! Favourite labels: Prada, Rochas, Balenciaga,

Micaela Erlanger

Sourcing flattering silhouettes from achingly cool new labels is exactly what Micaela Erlanger looks for when dressing Naomie Harris, Lupita Nyong’o and red-carpet daredevil, Jared Leto. A self-described glamour girl, her own wardrobe consists of print dresses, figure-hugging cuts and carefully colour coordinated accessories. Add to that the fact she’s a devout vintage shopper – with a collection that includes everything from a YSL turban to a brocade Prada dress – and that’s one wardrobe we’d love to raid. Styling mantra: Fit is paramount.
