Denim brand Gap have continued their social focus with a new video starring the toast of the fashion world and celebrating diversity in the industry. 'Bridging the Gap' was directed by new British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful to celebrate the opportunity and optimism of American fashion in all its forms, and stars an international cast including Bollywood and Baywatch actress Priyanka Chopra, 63-year supermodel Christie Brinkley, Ghanaian-British model and activist Adwoa Aboah and US rapper Wiz Khalifa.

"This film came about as a result of my love for America and features people I knew; friends who live their truth," says Edward in the behind the scenes video. "Basing everything on the white t-shirt because I felt that to start this conversation we needed to start with a blank canvas. We're different, but we're all equal."

With the cast all dressed in simple gap jeans and a white top, singing Boney M's classic hit 'Sunny', Edward wanted to show the diverse cast having fun together – and how our differences unite us all. "The world we're living in has changed a lot so I wanted to do something that expressed the idea of togetherness," he continues. "We’re celebrating each other, coming together and trying to change the world we're in through positivity."

Priyanka was delighted to get involved in the campaign, saying: "'Bridging the Gap’ is exactly what the world needs right now, there are so many gaps in this world that need to be bridged and filled. The most important one for me is empowering women, women need to be given an opportunity to stand on their feet and do the best they can for themselves."

The campaign video features a diverse cast of Edward's fashion influences

“I love the optimistic American style that Gap celebrates and the simplicity of the basic white t-shirt that allows you to be yourself,” Edward says of getting involved in the campaign. The former i-D and W fashion director took over from Vogue's Alexandra Shulman in April this year. “Growing up, I loved the imagery I saw from America as it celebrated being the land of the free and home of the brave. This project is about authenticity and people living their truths.”

Don't miss HELLO!'s exclusive interview with Priyanka on Monday 12 June, talking about her role in the positive campaign and what she thinks of her responsibilities in the public eye.
