With model credentials that have seen her make her catwalk debut in Milan this year, Lady Kitty Spencer has become a force to be reckoned with in the fashion world. Gracing this month’s cover, Princess Diana’s niece talked exclusively to Hello! Fashion Monthly about her family values, strong worth ethic and her love of British fashion.

Back in February, the 26-year-old walked on the runway at the D&G AW17 show alongside her friends: Pixie Lott, Renee Stewart, Lady Amelia Windsor and Ella Richards, and told us that she had “so much fun,” during her stay in the Italian fashion capital. Citing Pixie as her closest friend, Kitty enthused “I adore her.”

Kitty, who was just six-years-old when Princess Diana died, opens up in the issue about her late aunt’s influence in the fashion industry. "I think she’s iconic and I suppose it’s such a wonderful thing that her fashion influence is still enduring today. She was a great ambassador for British fashion.”

When it comes to dressing up, Kitty believes it’s better to be confident and happy. “I think the best thing about fashion and style is taking the bits that suit you and playing with them, rather than conforming to whatever the trends are. I dress for my shape and I like anything that goes in at the waist. I make sure my clothes are nicely tailored and classic but still feminine – I don’t like anything too fussy,” she said.

The model, who moved from Cape Town to London to pursue a career in the fashion industry, tells us about the differences in style in her beloved hometown, describing it as a “laid-back beach culture,” with “less emphasis on fashion.”

And when it comes to her favourite designer – there are plenty. “I love McQueen, Temperley, Erdem, Vivienne Westwood and Burberry. Anything that’s fun but feminine. And then the [international] ones I tend to wear are Dolce & Gabbana and Ralph Lauren.”
