Heidi Klum announced the exciting news of her upcoming fashion collaboration with supermarket chain Lidl at the beginning of August. The debut 18-piece fashion collection is set to be unveiled during New York Fashion Week on 18 September – and the location couldn’t be more perfect. This is because Heidi drew inspiration from the city to design her clothing line, which has been aptly named "Heidi & The City." In the first preview photo of the range, key pieces include glitzy bomber jackets, skinny jeans and leopard print dresses – representing the iconic city's chic, yet classic style.

As one of the world's most renowned supermodels, it was only right that Heidi herself modelled pieces from her collection. In the first photo of the fashion range, the mother-of-four poses alongside other models wearing black sequin blazer, which is teamed with a black vest top and navy skinny jeans. A suede jacket with contrasting zips is held in her hands. The collection has promises to offer "stylish wardrobe stables," with prices ranging from a purse-friendly £4.99 to £49.99.

Of the clothing line, Heidi said: "I wanted to create fashion with a wow effect that is easy to combine and makes every woman look fantastic – and all at an unbeatable price."

Ryan McDonnell, Commercial Director, Lidl UK added: "Working alongside Heidi Klum, a highly successful and creative designer, we are bringing affordable fashion to the forefront. The #LETSWOW concept is all about surprising our customers with a trend-led fashion collection at highly competitive prices."

The collaboration is not Lidl's first venture into fashion – the supermarket launches regular Lidl Fashion Weeks throughout the year in which it sells designs from the clothing brand Esmara. The supermarket appears to be following in the footsteps of US retailer Target, which regularly collaborates with high-end designers to create more accessible collections. Victoria Beckham became the latest fashion designer to release a collection for Target in April, with her limited edition women's and children's designs quickly selling out.
