This season, the androgynous look is very apparent, seen amongst a whole host of celebrities. Suits and clean, classic shirts are a nod to the 80’s power ideal; they command a certain kind of attention and instantly make the wearer look smart and ready for anything. Suits were first seen on the catwalk at the Celine show back in the spring, and many other designers have followed suit.
Although some catwalk offerings are rather Avant Guarde, and ‘out there’ for the regular person, filtering down to the high street they are much more wearable and easy to wear, and are available in a variety of shades and patterns, not just the stereotypical black workwear staple.
Two-pieces are so versatile as they are theoretically co-ordinates, you don’t have to simply wear they together. Use the blazer over jeans to pep up denim, or use the trousers with a contrasting top for an easy-going, smart option. The possibilities are endless! Easy to dress up or down with accessories, simply add trainers for a relaxed feel, and heels for a dressed up, ready-to- take-on- the-world sort of look!
Cara Delevingne
The model of the moment displays her unique, quirky, chameleon-style in this classic black design by Burberry. The tailored cut is truly exquisite; it hugs her lean shape and skims over frame, making the most of her willowy stance. She adds an incredible sparkling cape, which has a retro feel to it, and gives it a gentle nods to the roaring 20’s. It’s a very different option for her, compared to her regular, tomboy garments of choice. Crystallised heels and on-trend plum lipstick top this regal ensemble.
Emma Willis
Kicking off this trend on trial we have the beautiful Emma Willis. She works the look so effortlessly, in this sumptuous creation by Haider Ackerman. This getup has a silky smooth texture, made from fine satin. The cut is perfect for her slight frame; the cigarette pants hug her svelte legs and the loose fitting jacket offers a relaxed feel, with the striking fuchsia colour dominating her appearance. She adds a simple, understated white camisole and co-ordinating bubble-gum pink heels. Slight hoop earrings are the only accessories she needs, which lets the two-piece take centre stage!
Heidi Klum
Known for her outrageous dress sense, Heidi pulls out all the stops, opting for this leopard print creation. The cut is perfect for the supermodel- skinny trousers that hug her lean pins, and a blazer style jacket that is form-fitting and has a velvet piped trim. She adds black pointed toe heels and a sun kissed California tan. When wearing such a statement print, there’s no need for accessories!
Pixie Lott
Pixie Lott has come in to her own style-wise of late; opting for a plethora of colours to match her ever- changing hair! She is much more daring when it comes to her fashion choices, and this blush pink, almost peach toned, two-piece number by La Perla illustrates her new take on fashion! The design boasts a built-in corset, and a leather texture, which gives it a sexy feel. Towering block heels and a bouffant hairdo complete this feminine vision.
Victoria Beckham
With her serious business head on, VB wears this slouchy, grey offering from her own Fall 2017 collection, with a relaxed, loose fit. The suit has a definite masculine feel to it, with prominent shoulder pads and visible lapels. She adds bold, power accessories, and a simple, co-ordinating navy shirt.
