Olivia Culpo inspired by Italy when designing her new PrettyLittleThing collection

Olivia Culpo was inspired by the colours of Rome when designing her new PrettyLittleThing collection. The actress and former Miss Universe winner has teamed up with the retailer on a chic range of clothes, with pieces including a long dark pink lace and ruffled skirt and a floral sequinned playsuit.

Chatting to instyle.co.uk, the brunette beauty recalled how she came about dreaming up the gorgeous garments.

"I was really inspired by Italy and the colours of Rome in the spring and walking in any sort of city where the flowers are blooming and fresh fruit is abundant," she smiled. "And flower markets! And I guess, on a mood board, there would probably be similar (images) to what are in the campaign pictures, which is pizza, pasta, fresh lemon, grapes, and apples."

The colour red features prominently, with Olivia also rocking a rouge lip shade in lots of the campaign shots. For her the hue is "iconic" and she loves how it works with all the classic colours, notably black and white.

"I just feel like any outfit can be elevated and be made more iconic and more of a statement with a red lip," she shared. "It definitely jazzes up a look in a very sophisticated way when done appropriately... I think that, for me, if the outfit lends itself to a more classic and timeless feel, a red lip just takes it to the next level."

Describing her ideal customer, Olivia says she's a woman who "isn't afraid to be bold" and stand out in the spotlight.

In terms of what she loves to wear at the moment, the 25-year-old cited the monochromatic trend – wearing separate shades of one colour – as her go-to look.
