Mother and daughter duo Alessandra Ambrosio and her daughter Anja have been tapped to star in denim brand's Jordache 40th anniversary campaign.

The nine-year-old is the latest model offspring to launch a fashion career of her own, and she follows on from Coco Rocha's two-year-old tot Ioni making her modelling debut in French childrenswear brand Bonpoint's show in Paris in July. Cindy Crawford's teen daughter Kaia Gerber has also embarked on a successful career in the industry.

Mother and daughter team Alessandra and Anja are the new faces of Jordache women's and girls' collections and the Victoria's Secret Angel has shared her joy at working with her "best friend".

"(Being the face at) such an important brand moment is really an honour and what's even more exciting is that I got to do it with my best friend, my daughter Anja," she said in a heartfelt statement.

"(Anja) has so much energy and is silly and makes everyone laugh. I don't know if I would even consider it work as we really got to goof around and play on the set. I really enjoyed standing on the side and watching her do her own thing as well. I think the final images really show the bond we have as well as how much fun we have spending time with each other."

One of the images for the new campaign, shot by Cass Bird, sees Alessandra and her mini-me both pose in dark denim jeans, with Anja gripping on to her mother's waist as she grins into the camera.

Liz Berlinger, president of Jordache, was thrilled with the results.

"They have such chemistry and are both so beautiful, sincere and real," she smiled. "They represent just what we wanted."
