Emporio Armani presented a fun and colourful spring/summer 18 collection during London Fashion Week on Sunday evening. Italian designer Giorgio Armani showed in the British capital for the first time in 11 years over the weekend, holding his catwalk event in a space at Tobacco Dock in Wapping.

Models made their way down the runway in playful pastel-coloured pieces, with Armani noting the clothes embody "freedom as lightness of being and eclecticism of appearance."

Cute dresses turned heads, including two - one in pale pink and another in white - made from a chiffon material boasting ruffles around the waist and embroidered shapes all over the material.

Another sleeveless minidress boasted a sheer panel over the chest, with the shape prints also popping up on various other garments throughout the range including tops and trousers.

Pattern is a big part of the whole collection and Armani wasn't afraid to clash, with one head-turning ensemble consisting of a brightly coloured jacket worn over what appeared to be a similarly heavily printed jumpsuit, while another model wore a short jacket in the same print with striped silk trousers.

Suits also made an appearance, from a silk patterned two-piece worn on a female model to a grey suede set-up modelled by a handsome male.

The colour palette was perfect for the season and there was something for everyone, with tweed and checked finishes also featured amid the tailored creations.

Talking to The Telegraph about what drew him back to London, the 83-year-old fashion icon said, "The city gives off energy everywhere you look."

Armani also noted to The Guardian that it was fun to do the show so he could "still be a part of today's fashion world", and when quizzed on whether he looked to influence people's taste with his work, he replied, "To say I educate is a bit pretentious but I can suggest an attitude."

London Fashion Week continues on Monday with labels including Antonio Berardi, Erdem and Christopher Kane all showing.
