September 25, 2017

Gisele Bundchen stole the spotlight at the 2017 Green Carpet Fashion Awards, hosted by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI), in collaboration with Eco-Age, the support of Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico (MISE), of ICE and with the patronage of Comune di Milano. The Brazilian model was a guest of honour at the event, which was held by Eco-Age founder Livia Firth at Teatro alla Scala as part of Milan Fashion Week on Sunday night, to highlight people and businesses that promote sustainable fabrics and processes.

Gisele took home the organisation's first-ever Eco Laureate accolade, with Livia explaining that the 37-year-old deserved to be recognised for "how she has always used her platform to promote not just environmental causes but also solutions."

Taking the theme of the night into consideration, Gisele looked glamorous in an emerald-hued gown as she walked the green carpet, and later took to Instagram to share that the dress had been especially made for her by Stella McCartney using carefully sourced materials.

"Thank you @stellamccartney for my beautiful and sustainable dress, crafted from sustainably sourced viscose from sustainably certified forests in Sweden. Thank you Livia @ecoage for all that you do to make fashion sustainable," the blonde beauty captioned a snap of her posing in her outfit.

In addition to Gisele, the event also saw Maison Valentino seamstresses awarded The Art of Craftsmanship honour, while Tiziano Guardini, a designer who uses ecological materials, was feted with The Franca Sozzani Award for Best Emerging Designer.

Other fashion stars took to the green carpet too, with Amber Valletta sporting a strapless Missoni gown which incorporated intricate hand embroidery, and bustier boning upcycled from an old dress.

Karolina Kurkova wore a white silk organza strapless minidress embroidered with floral applications with the lead-free advanced crystals from Swarowski, while Elsa Hosk sported an Alberta Ferretti gown created from certified organic silk chiffon, which was produced in a weaving mill in Como, Italy.
