Singer and actress Janelle Monae will ring in the holidays as the star of U.S. retailer Gap's new Christmas campaign. The festive ad series will features the Moonlight star singing and harmonising an a cappella rendition of Freddie Scott's song (You) Got What I Need with six different choirs as she dons the brand's seasonal styles. The ads will celebrate unity and togetherness, and Janelle admits she is truly honoured to be part of the Meet Me in the Gap promos.
"The Gap has been a part of my life since I was a little girl, so it was very exciting to be involved in this campaign," she tells HELLO! in a press release. "I love the unity of the 'Meet Me in the Gap' concept. It really proves that although we may be from different parts of the world, when we come together, we can create something magical."
Janelle wears a chic white turtleneck paired with a black denim skirt and jacket in the campaign, while her ad co-stars also sport the brand's fall and winter seasonal essentials, which include sweaters and long-sleeved shirts with multi-coloured stripes.

The Gap's chief marketing officer, Craig Brommers, explains the bands of colour in the clothing were created to metaphorically celebrate diversity.
"As a brand, holiday has always been a memorable and emotional moment for Gap, marked by crazy stripes and togetherness," Brommers notes. "This holiday season, we offer an invitation to families from all over the world to get together, spend real time with one another, and ultimately, meet in the Gap."
