Lady Kitty Spencer and a host of London’s best-connected millennials strode a make-shift catwalk in the meat, fish and veg section of the Harrods’ food hall as they showcased Dolce & Gabbana’s dazzling new festive collection.

From aristocrats to rock and film star offspring, the models represented a Who’s Who of young British influencers and included the likes of Lady Tatiana Mountbatten, the Manners sisters - Lady Alice, Lady Violet and Lady Eliza – Amber Le Bon, Rafferty Law and Finlay Munro Kemp. Others negotiating the food aisles were singer Pixie Lott with her model fiancé Oliver Cheshire, who walked arm-in-arm, models Lottie Moss, and Maddi Waterhouse, photographer David Bailey’s son Sascha and Olympic diver Tom Daley.

Watched by a high-spirited crowd, who had earlier trawled the design duo’s Sicilian Christmas market on the legendary store’s fourth floor, the 100 hand-picked millennials presented a capsule collection that could only be described as joyously exuberant. It married the Italian brand’s signature fruits and flowers with traditional British symbols, such as heart-shaped Union Jacks, dresses and belts emblazoned with “QUEEN” and royal guard motifs.

Designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have made no secret of the fact that they draw inspiration from all things British, and fittingly, this collection will be sold exclusively at Harrods. The flamboyant pair were also in town for the launch of their new book, aptly entitled Millennials, a testament to their love affair with the generation born in the digital age.

“I love millennials,” Dolce told Vogue.com. “People talk about them like they’re the worst generation. No! This generation represents a new time. It’s not like, ‘Oh, we discovered millennials’. You need to talk to these people and understand them, and why they’re changing the world. They’re honest.”

The feeling is clearly mutual with Viscountess Emma Weymouth, wife of Ceawlin Thynn, heir of the Marquesse of Bath, saying on Instagram: “So thrilled to have been part of the amazing show last night.” Lady Kitty posted backstage photos while model Sarah Ann Macklin described the experience as “a dream”. She added: “Wasn’t scared in the slightest when you told me I was wearing the most expensive dress just before I went out!”
