Kate's third pregnancy: her best maternity looks so far

November 8, 2017

After spending time at home battling severe morning sickness, the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge made her much-awaited return to royal duties in October. Kate, who had not been seen in public for weeks, showed off her sartorial prowess as she attended an engagement at Buckingham Palace. She showed the smallest hint of a baby bump, wearing a stunning, dusky blue lace Temperley dress.

Since announcing her third pregnancy in September, Kate has dressed her changing figure – and growing baby bump – in a mixture of high-street and high-end ensembles. The on-trend Duchess has stayed true to her style, winning praise for her elegant and sophisticated looks.

We particularly love the black, full-length Diane von Furstenberg gown she wore for a gala at Kensington Palace – a version of which is also owned by Meghan Markle. And we're also big fans of the pink Orla Kiely patterned dress Kate wore when she met Paddington Bear!

As Prince George and Princess Charlotte's mum prepares to give birth for a third time, we take a look at her chic maternity style…

Erdem

Most notably, January 2018 marked the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's royal tour of Sweden and Norway - and Kate stunned in a variety of daytime and evening looks. This silk gown by Erdem was just the first of many show-stopping dresses, teamed with an elegant chignon and delicate pearl earrings.

Erdem

The Duchess opted for Erdem again for her meeting with Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, choosing this gorgeous blue midi dress with flared sleeves and a high neckline - and showing off another stunning updo. Her modern pointed heels finished the look perfectly, in an ensemble that perfectly flattered her blooming bump.

Seraphine

Pulling her hair back into a ponytail for this pretty pastel look, Kate opted for one of her favourite brands, Seraphine, for her visit to King's College in January. Wearing a blue printed dress by the same brand underneath, she kept the look coordinated with navy heeled court shoes.

Boden

This beautiful tangerine coat by Boden really brought out Kate's pregnancy glow during her visit to Great Ormond Street Hospital in January 2018 - and it's still available on the brand's website for £220! With frilled details to the pockets, sleeves and collar, it adds a fun touch to the Duchess' ensemble - which was finished with a black clutch and court shoes.

Miu Miu

Kate looked fashionably festive for Christmas Day 2017, when she wore this elegant green and red checked Miu Miu coat to church with the royal family. Her glamorous fur hat is a favourite of the Duchess', as she's gone on to wear it on numerous occasions this winter. It is thought to be made by fair trade fashion brand Lacorine.

LK Bennett

The Duchess looked beautiful in a red LK Bennett shift dress for a visit with Prince William to Media City in Manchester, where she attended a 'stepping out' session with young members of the community - which involved discussing important issues like cyber bullying. The high neck and subtle bell sleeves are particularly flattering on Kate, who teamed the look with black tights and pretty drop-earrings.

Goat

The Duchess embraced autumnal tones as she wore a burgundy dress by Goat to the Place2Be School Leaders Forum in London. The high-necked design, titled the Eloise dress, was a safe, comfortable choice for the pregnant royal. The plum hue gave a nod to the seasonal change, and the gold, military style buttons made for striking detail, giving the design a statement edge. The hemline of the creation finished just a little above the knee, which was actually a tad shorter than many of the designs Kate typically opts for; and was balanced out by full, boxy sleeves.

Diane von Furstenberg

For her black-tie affair at Kensington Palace – a charity gala for the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families – Kate chose to recycle her black lace Diane von Furstenberg Zarita gown, which she wore back in 2014 when she was pregnant with Princess Charlotte.

The form-fitting number showed off Kate's growing baby bump and featured a high neckline, a deep V-neck back and three-quarter length sheer lace sleeves. Made from a rayon-nylon mix, the dress allows for more movement and stretch.

Boutique Moschino

Kate hosted a secret meeting at the palace where she and around 12 guests discussed maternal mental health. The Duchess was the epitome of elegance for the previously unannounced engagement, hiding her bump in a loose-fitting cream jacket by Boutique Moschino.

Kensington Palace shared a photo from the roundtable discussion, giving fans a glimpse of her outfit. The chic jacket, made of wool and cotton, featured a demure, high neckline and was embellished with three sweet bows. It sold for £261 on Net-a-Porter but is currently unavailable.

Monreal London tracksuit

Kate dressed down for a sporty day out at the Lawn Tennis Association. She wore her trusty side panel tracksuit bottoms by Monreal London, which she has previously worn at tennis engagements, and which feature a neon yellow waistband. Kate paired the slim-fit bottoms with a £129 Clarice track jacket by PlayBrave, and a new pair of white £179.95 Nike Air running shoes.

Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini

Kate nailed business chic as she visited West Ham's stadium with Prince William and Prince Harry in mid-October. Choosing to conceal her bump, the mother-of-two suited up in a blazer by Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, black jeans and boots, and underneath her blazer she wore a black turtle-neck jumper.

The Duchess has actually worn this suit before, but in a ravishing burgundy shade, back in February of this year. It's the label's double-breasted design and is seen as an iconic piece in the brand's collection. It features a bold lapel and statement gold buttons, which add interest to the classic shape and cut.

Orla Kiely

While royal watchers guessed Kate is having a boy after her very 'blue' appearance, the Duchess threw them off, choosing to step out in a peach-coloured dress a few days later. Kate looked pretty in pink, wearing a midi-length frock by Orla Kiely. It featured an embossed floral appliqué motif, dotted all over the design, and boasted a contrasting black-waist detail and a defined round-necked collar. It perfectly fitted the pregnant Duchess, skimming over her petite frame and her tiny baby bump.

Temperley London

Kate made a radiant return to the public eye on World Mental Health Day in October, wearing a dusky blue dress by Temperley London. The ultra-feminine Eclipse dress, which sold for £795, featured a high neckline and ruffles and had delicate black velvet trims on the cuffs. The pleated skirt was very flattering, and showed just a hint of Kate's tiny bump.
