Kate Spade New York has named Nicola Glass as its new creative director. The brand was acquired by corporate company Tapestry Inc., formally Coach Inc., earlier this year and changes have now been made with its leadership. Deborah Lloyd, who was creative director at Kate Spade for around a decade, is to depart her role at the end of this year and will be replaced by Glass, who is currently working as vice president of accessories design at Michael Kors. Glass will begin her new job at the beginning of 2018, reporting to chief executive officer of Tapestry and Kate Spade, Victor Luis.

In return Glass said she was "honoured" to be given the role. "It is a brand I've long admired and I look forward to leading the team in this next chapter of Kate Spade's evolution and growth,” she said.

Luis also touched upon Lloyd's efforts over the years, adding: "We have great admiration for Deborah's accomplishments and her vision and creative leadership have been instrumental to the growth of Kate Spade." In August the businessman noted he is hopeful that acquiring Kate Spade will help boost Tapestry's profits, explaining that the label brings a "new, unique brand attitude" as well as extra customers to the company.
