Olivier Rousteing praises 'powerful' Balmain and Victoria's Secret models

The fashion designer has created a capsule collection for the lingerie brand

November 14, 2017

Olivier Rousteing found plenty of similarities between the "powerful" Balmain and Victoria's Secret girls while designing for the lingerie giant. The French designer and creative director of Balmain has teamed up with the world-famous underwear brand on a new capsule collection, which is set to debut during the 2017 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai, China later this month.

Few details have been revealed about the line so far, but in a new video interview for Elle.com, Rousteing is seen dressing model Cindy Bruna, who walks for Victoria's Secret and also posed for Balmain's lipstick line with L'Oreal Paris. As he picks out chic, embellished pieces for Bruna to rock, the fashion star says, "More than the discussion it was like, exchanging of ideas because we believe in the same kind of woman; a powerful lady, a strong and confident sexy girl that knows what she wants. What I think they love from me, it's all the couture and the craftsmanship and at the same time the attitude that the Balmain girl has, it's not far from what they do as well."

Further hinting at what fans will see on the catwalk, Rousteing added, "Let's be honest, Victoria's Secret is one of the most famous brands (in) the world and we need to give to the public, which is a really incredible crowd, what they expect and, even more, surprising them." He concluded by stating that he hopes together Balmain and Victoria's Secret can create "magic" with their designs.
