All eyes were on Queen Letizia when she stepped out in Madrid on Wednesday evening to attend the journalist awards ceremony Francisco Cerecedo, with King Felipe. The royal looked gorgeous in a monochrome flapper-style number, which showed off her toned legs. Letizia’s dress – which was embellished with glittery sequins – featured thick black velvet straps, and was identified by website Queen Letizia style as a 2008 Teresa Helbig design. The dress looked lovely teamed with a pair of £500 Prada Saffiano Leather Point Toe Pumps, while a black clutch and silver drop earrings completed her look.

Beauty-wise, Letizia wore her long, brunette hair down in loose waves that tumbled onto her shoulders, and outlined her eyes with black liner, creating the perfect smoky eye. A sweep of bronzer across the apples of her cheeks added a subtle glow to her complexion.

Letizia is renowned for her timeless sense of style, and over the years has impressed royal watchers with her ability to mix designer with high street clothes. During her summer holiday to Palma, the former journalist looked fabulous in a nautical-inspired striped knit top from Spanish high street favourite Mango, retailing at just £45. During her state visit to the UK in July, meanwhile, the 44-year-old chose to pay tribute to her host country by wearing a blush coloured £80 prom style skirt from British brand Topshop, which had been reduced to just £30 in the sale.
Letizia is also known to recycle her favourite wardrobe staples when out and about on royal engagements. In July, she was pictured in a striking red Nina Ricci crinkle-effect shift dress while in Malaga, which she had previously worn when meeting Michelle Obama last summer. Royal onlookers have even noted the remarkable similarities between Letizia and the Duchess of Cambridge, who also recycles many of her favourite pieces.
