Christian Lacroix is branching out into e-commerce with a new online sales platform. The French luxury fashion house, founded by couturier Christian Lacroix in 1987, is known for its use of vibrant colours, unusual patterns and use of experimental fabrics. Now, for the first time, Lacroix is to sell directly to customers on its revamped website. "With the launch of our digital commerce platform, we are looking to expand our distribution and be in direct contact with our customers worldwide," said Christian Lacroix chief executive officer Nicolas Topiol. "Our 30th anniversary and its celebration provide the perfect opportunity to launch our direct to consumer initiative."

Designer Lacroix left the helm of the company in late 2009, and was replaced by creative director Sacha Walckhoff. Under Walckhoff's tenure, the brand has expanded to include men's fashion, accessories and lifestyle products. The new website, which was designed by technology company Mirakl, will showcase all offerings.

"We have a uniquely shared vision. Mirakl believes the future of commerce is in the platform revolution - where retailers and brands need to become platform operators to embrace the future of commerce," said Philippe Corrot, co-founder and chief executive officer of Mirakl. "The Christian Lacroix Brand Platform perfectly exemplifies this vision - with the team creating an online network to sell their multiple product categories and to provide the full universe of products to Christian Lacroix brand aficionados."

As well as the new website, Lacroix is also celebrating its anniversary by releasing an exclusive collection designed in collaboration with New York City-based multimedia artist Brian Kenny. The limited-edition line features phone cases, key rings, patches, sweatshirts, totes and T-shirts, and is currently available to purchase.
