Prince George and Princess Charlotte: how to steal their style

Dress your kids to impress this Christmas with some Royal inspiration.

December 1, 2017

With Christmas coming up, you may be thinking about how to dress your kids for the family festivities. There’s no time like the present to take some inspiration from Prince George and Princess Charlotte, perhaps the youngest style icons out there. The children of Duchess Kate and Prince William were always destined to be style symbols – we show you how you can copy their style for your own little prince or princess. Whenever they are photographed, the clothes that Prince George and Princess Charlotte are wearing make headlines. Not only does the designer’s website usually crash as people try to buy the outfit but hundreds of copy-cat looks appear online as people try to replica the look.

The good news is that The Duchess of Cambridge is so aware of the media frenzy surrounding her kid’s clothes that she has been known to use her influence wisely, choosing UK or local designers that are more affordable. Having recently revealed that her daughter’s favourite colour is pink, it comes as no surprise that Kate is a huge fan of pastel colours having marked her daughter’s second birthday with a portrait of Princess Charlotte wearing a lemon-pastel Fair Isle knit cardigan from John Lewis. Unsurprisingly it sold out within minutes.

Another high street store favoured by Kate is Cath Kidston. When a picture was taken of Prince George dressed in a cosy knitted tank top from the label, it was instantly sold out with the store restocking soon after such was the demand. Brit label Rachel Riley is another popular design worn by Prince George both at his sister’s christening and on his royal tour of New Zealand. Its retro-inspired tops are fashionable right now and include motifs of sailing boats that give them a really cute edge.

Cashmere cardigans and liberty-print clothing is often favoured by Kate who is a fan of the boutique Olivier baby and kids – Princess Charlotte wore this brand in her official birthday snaps and with dresses at the £40 mark, it's reasonably priced. Other baby fashion and accessories brands princess Charlotte has been known to wear include Amaia Kids, Dona Carmen Granate and GH Hurt & Son. Finally, if you are trying to replica the style of Prince George this Christmas keep your little one wrapped up well as royal tradition has it he is expected to be kitted out in shorts.
