Hollywood came under the spotlight in 2017, with many actresses and actors speaking out to share their personal experiences of sexual harassment – particularly in relation to Harvey Weinstein. That movement will be highlighted further at the Golden Globes on Sunday, when a number of high-profile female celebrities will step out dressed in black to protest sexual harassment against women.
Famous actresses are rumoured to be wearing black to The Golden Globes 2018
According to Us Weekly, the idea was actually started by a small group of actresses who all unanimously decided to wear black as a show of unity, and the idea quickly spread – over 30 ladies now plan to embrace the shade in solidarity. An extensive list of iconic actresses are attending the Golden Globes this year – including Hollywood heavyweights such as Meryl Streep, Jessica Chastain, Helen Mirren, Emma Stone, Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. It will be interesting to see if they embrace the dark hue on the red carpet.

The impending Golden Globes isn’t the only awards that will play host to a form of protest. On Thursday, it was announced that the SAG Awards will showcase a line-up of only females to reinforce the powerful message of women having a voice in Hollywood.
Kathy Connell, who is an executive producer of the SAG Awards, explained the bold decision to The Hollywood Reporter:
"Beginning with the Women's March in January, it's been the year of the woman. This is a unifying salute to women who have been very brave in speaking up."
