Princess Charlotte is following in her mum Kate's footsteps and fast becoming a mini fashion icon in her own right. Her Royal Cuteness looked simply adorable on her first day of nursery, posing for photos at home at Kensington Palace wearing a red coat. The Princess was wrapped up in the burgundy Razorbil coat by Amaia Kids – the Duchess of Cambridge's go-to childrenswear brand.

The coat currently retails for £120 on the store's official website in sizes one to six years old; it is sold out in sizes six to 12 months. The smart item is described as a "classic boiled wool coat" that has a "fitted shape" and is "very warm". It falls under the "casual and chic" style and is "light and easy to wear". The coat can also be paired with a sweet matching bonnet.

Charlotte, who is a full-time pupil at Willocks Nursery School in west London, also appears to be wearing the brand's chestnut-coloured ribbed tights, which sell for £12 a pair. She is wrapped up in a pink cashmere cable knit scarf by Marie-Chantal, the brand owned by Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece. The scarf, which is from an old collection, was part of a hat set sold for £125. Charlotte also carries a pink backpack by Cath Kidston featuring a horse pattern, while her shoes are the red Mary Jane style flats by Dona Carmen Bebes.

Kate, who turns 36 on Tuesday, is a big fan of Amaia Kids. She often dresses her daughter Charlotte and her son Prince George, four, in clothes by the London-based designer. In fact, Kate's loyalty to the brand started when George was just a few weeks old. Speaking exclusively to HELLO! Online's sister publication HOLA.com, designer Amaia Arrieta has previously revealed her first meeting with the Duchess.

"The first time she came into the shop she was with her mother [Carole Middleton]," Amaia, who is one half of the business with fellow mum Ségolène Tresca, told HOLA.com. "It was quite funny because she said, 'I've just had a baby and I'm a little lost. Would you be able to help me?' Of course we knew who she was! It surprised us to see how normal and natural she was. We helped her like any new mum and I think she liked that because she's been coming back ever since."

Amaia added: "She usually comes alone and although we show her everything we have in the size she needs, she usually knows what she wants. She's very decisive but she does let us make suggestions, and sometimes she buys things she wouldn't have picked up. She's very charming, very normal and very sweet."
