Bringing an international edge to the House of Winsor newly engaged Meghan Markle, 36, who is set to wed Prince Harry, 33, in May, has had fashion followers gripped - eager to see whether she will inject something different to Britain's most famous Firm. "I think she has an intriguing, effortless style and she doesn't do the expected," HFM editor-at-large Hilary Alexander says of Meghan. "In fact she can be quite unconventional, witness the white coat by Canadian brand Line, she wore for the engagement pictures on a very damp, rainy day in London. But she make it work."
Before quitting her role of Rachel Zane US legal drama Suits to become a fulltime royal the actress and philanthropist endured seven biting winters in Toronto, Canada, where the show is filmed. Her time in the city also contributed to her fashion awareness. "Growing up in Los Angeles, obviously it's a fashionable city, but it has a relaxed quality to it - so, my fashion education came while working on Suits," she told the Vancouver Sun. "Obviously Meghan will have more freedom than the Duchess of Cambridge. She can indulge her adventurous spirit when dressing," Hilary continues. "She's already introducing us to a whole raft of designer brands we’d hardly heard of before, such as Mackage, Line and Misha Nonoo, which is fun."
Misha Nonoo is one of well-connected Megan's best friends (she's also close to stylist Jessica Mulroey, FROW favourite Olivia Palermo and tennis ace Serena Williams). The Bahrain-born, British-raised, NY-based fashion designer is responsible for the sell out white 'husband' shirt Meghan wore with ripped Mother Denim jeans, when she accompanied Britain's most eligible bachelor to the Invictus Games in Toronto – the couple's first official outing.
