Britney Spears has taken on the role of a fashion model in the new Kenzo ad campaign, shot by world renowned photographer Peter Lindbergh. The 36-year-old singer is the leading lady of the La Collection Memento collection which delves into the company’s archives. Creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon describe the collection – which focuses on denim, motif sweatshirts and caps - as "a nod to the past while looking forward to a bright future.” With that in mind, Britney is the perfect choice for the new ad campaign – she’s an icon, let’s not forget.
This marks Britney's first ever high fashion ad campaign
Shot in LA by Peter Lindbergh, whose British Vogue cover of Linda, Naomi, Cindy, Tatiana and Christy ignited the age of the supermodel, Britney can be seen working the camera and showing off her abs of steel. When asked why it’s taken her so long to front a high-fashion ad campaign, she said: “It really just had to be the right fit and the right opportunity. Kenzo pushes boundaries in the fashion world, which is what I like to do in my own career.”

When asked why they chose Britney to be the star, Humberto said: “Britney Spears is an icon, so I think in terms of her iconography, she fits into our Memento project perfectly. She is a legend in her field … She’s up there with Michael and Madonna. I think that in many ways, growing up she is also synonymous with denim with me. When her and Justin came out in their denim outfits, that is like an iconic look. Do you remember that?” Of course we remember!

This is the first time she’s actually entering this foray, which I think is super-cool and an honour for it to be Kenzo.”
