All style mavens love a designer lookalike bargain, be it the Balenciaga trainer dupes or high street handbags which look remarkably similar to Chloe versions. However, the latest one to catch our eye comes from none other than DIY store B&Q – not the first place we tend to associate with high-end accessories. The retailer posted a tweet gently poking fun at Brashy Studios, a brand selling a pair of high-end goggles for £17 as part of its 'safety eyewear' collection, reminding fashion fans that B&Q has been making similar pieces for years.

The retailer posted this playful tweet

The homewares giant posted an image of a mocked up billboard showing a model wearing its standard safety specs, alongside the slogan: "Safety first, fashion forever: Clear Over Specs Safety Goggles, £1.42." It also tweeted: "Get the LA look for less… Move over @brashystudios, we've had safety chic down since 1969."

Californian label Brashy Studios counts the likes of Bella Hadid and Kaia Gerber among its fans, and has become known for its retro 'dad'-style accessories. Kaia has been spotted in its 90s-style fisherman hats, and its baseball caps are selling out first.

Fashion fans keen to get on board with the 'dad' trend without breaking the bank should head to Topshop, which is selling a £38 pair of trainers that are remarkably similar to Balenciaga's Triple S trainers, which retail for a huge £595. The shoes are named Ciara Chunky Trainers and come in both white and black. They feature the same distinctive thick sole as the designer version, have leather patches on the upper and are fastened with laces.

Social media went crazy for the trainers after influencers began spotting the remarkable likeness. One user posted on Twitter: "People either hate or love them but I just got a pretty good dupe of the Balenciaga trainers in Topshop if you're into 'ugly' shoes like me". And another said: "Topshop is coming out with shoes that look exactly like Balenciagas!"
