Safari chic is the look we're going for this weekend

Turn up the heat with earthy tones and tropical prints

April 11, 2018

It's time to take a walk on the wild side with this seaon - we're talking safari chic. Basically, if it's not khaki, or terracotta, wicker or covered in a tropical print, frankly we're not interested. Earthy tones are perfect for those of us who aren't into neon hues and garish florals, but we still want to feel summery. And what’s more, the safari trend is timeless and you can mix and match to perfection. For the more daring, you can use bold prints to make a serious statement and pack a punch – but make sure you keep the rest of your outfit relatively simple. As always with micro-trends, if you are a little shy  try a  smattering of accessories instead.

We love these Halston-esque tan sliders by Dune London. They are smart and would look incredible with both skinny jeans or a little camouflage dress. Featuring pretty contrasting stitching and a low block heel, these open-toe stamps would look fab with a neutral-toned pedicure and this season's must-have jewellery accessory – an anklet.

Keep it cool in khaki – this Bardot dress is designed to be worn off the shoulder and we love the coordinating brown buttons and relaxed split at the hem. The linen fabric means its ideal for when you are jetting off on your hols and want a fail-safe frock for the evenings - and one that won't crease!

Wide-legged trousers are the easiest of summer staples – you can wear them with anything from a   chic black camisole to a simple white tee, and they skim your frame, giving an instantly streamlined silhouette. The tropical leaf print has us dreaming of white ands and turquoise waters. Sigh…

Straw hats come back in style every year when the sun comes out and this design from Gucci is giving us all the headgear goals.  Be the master of accessorising with this floppy design that comes complete with a bold black tie for a snug fit.

Strike a pose in the ultimate in relaxed glam – wearing a pair of beyond chic loop aviators by Victoria Beckham. The gold frames and mirrored lenses are made from 24 karat gold. Your sunny selfies just got a makeover.

When you are sitting poolside – it's all about the swimsuit. This season the more tropical the print, the better. This Aruba design by Figleaves will adds a delicate splash of colour that would look insane with a deep tan, gold accessories and a splash of red lipstick.

Bamboo is the material to be seen in, and all of our favourite influences have been sporting the now iconic Japanese style picnic bags. We love this generously sizes number by Own The Look. This gorgeous design is just the right size to fit in all your essentials and is the perfect addition to any bohemian ensemble.

Bag, £85.99, Own The Look

This flowing dress features the most striking print – in muted tones of tan, cream, caramel and splash of green. The elasticated waist, draped skirt and hidden slip gives it a relaxed edge and we think this is the perfect pool-party look (with a pair of shoulder grazing statement earrings of course)

Dress, £69.99, Zara

Nannacay's trademark raffia box bags are the stuff dreams are made of – we are a sucker for the gorgeously coloured pom poms and adorable compactable shape. The playful bags aren't just for the beach – they also make the perfect arm candy for the evening.

Bag, £125, Nannacay, launching April 2018 at Coggles

The easiest way to give a gentle nod to the safari trend is to wear a piece of jaw-droppingly chic jewellery – and a tassel certainly won't go amiss. With earrings – 2018 is all about the bigger the better and these turquoise and red leather tassel numbers will make you accessory game instantly strong.

Earrings, £110, Soru Jewellery
