The Queen looked as stylish as ever as she arrived at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle on Saturday 19 May for grandson Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding. Opting for a Stuart Parvin silk patterned dress in vibrant lime, lemon, grey and purple hues, paired with lime silk tweed coat, the 92-year-old monarch completed her outfit with a pair of patent black shoes and a black bag. The proud grandmother was accompanied by other core members of the royal family as she made her way to the ceremony, including husband Prince Philip, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The Queen's ensemble contrasts to her outfit worn to the wedding of Prince William and Kate in 2011, which saw her dress in a lemon yellow dress and tailored coat, which was teamed with a co-ordinating hat with silk roses and apricot coloured leaves, all of which had been created by one of her favourite designers, Angela Kelly. The look was teamed with her trademark pearl necklace and Queen Mary's True Lovers Knot diamond brooch, white gloves, and a Launer London handbag. A pair of white court shoes completed her look.
Just before the big day, the Queen – who is renowned for her classic sense of style – was thought to have seen Meghan's designer dress, to ensure that she approved of the design. HELLO!'s royal correspondent Emily Nash explained the tradition while speaking on royal podcast On Heir. "We understand that this is royal tradition," she said. "I know that brides like Autumn Kelly who married Peter Phillips did do that, and if the dress is at Windsor it's just a nice courtesy to show it to Her Majesty before the big day." When asked what would happen if the Queen said she didn't like it, Emily said: "I don't think anyone even wants to contemplate that."
