At the unveiling of her meticulously crafted creams, oils, teas and fragrance to a small group of journalists over breakfast at Harrods, Kate Moss is at pains to point out that she’s not pedalling a ‘party girl turns wellness convert’ narrative. "Cosmoss, for me, is all about balance," she tells us. "I still like to have fun, but I also like to look after myself and practice the daily rituals that I have found help me."

OK, phew, so we haven’t lost our favourite rock‘n’roll model to the ranks of the virtue-signalling wellness elite. But, as Kate reorients her energy into gardening, wild swimming and meditation, she admits her journey to this point has been "transformational". And whether you buy into the spiritual side of Cosmoss or not (aura cleansing and crystals aren’t for everyone), what is clear is that this brand has been authentically- conceived, and offers a snapshot into Kate’s life at 49 years old. Some of the products were formulated on her kitchen table, most of the campaign imagery is of her Cotswolds garden and one of Kate’s best friends, nutritionist Rosemary Ferguson, has been brought on-board as a consultant.

Kate's new brand was the result of a ten year wellness journey

Here, Kate gives us the brand backstory and shares her own self-care rituals:

What inspired your wellness journey?

"It started about ten years ago, when I went to a detox juicing retreat. It was the first time I’d really experienced wellbeing. I’d reached a point in my life where I wanted to be more in control and more grounded."

Why do you describe the Cosmoss Sacred Mist fragrance as cleansing?

"It’s such a mood-boosting fragrance, everyone who’s tried it loves it. It’s infused with some of my favourite essential oils, bergamot, jasmine and tonka. It’s calming, grounding, but uplifting at the same time."

Do you do any facial massage techniques with the Golden Nectar oil?

"I use it with a jade gua sha, it’s the perfect combination for lymphatic drainage and de-puffing because the oil contains CBD. I apply a few drops then use sweeping strokes down the neck and along the cheeks to take away tension."

How do you take your Cosmoss tea?

"Every morning I make a pot of Dawn Tea – it used to be hot lemon water but this has added benefits – it’s great for alkalising and stimulating the digestive system after a night’s sleep. The blend was inspired by herbs from my garden and that’s where I love to drink it."

How did you become more meditative?

"Meditation is really powerful for me, but I had to practice. I used to do 20 minutes twice a day, now I only need to do ten minutes in the morning. When you find it hard to do, that’s when you really need to use it. You can go into trances where you hear your own blood. I like to lie on the grass in my garden, burn frankincense and listen to music. It’s so peaceful."

Are there any other beauty products that you have discovered recently?

"I always use La Roche-Posay sunscreen. Another product that Lila [Kate’s daughter] introduced me to is the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask – it’s so good I use it in the day, too. Charlotte’s [Tilbury] new concealer is really easy to use, I use two different shades with a bit of bronzer, blusher and mascara and that’s pretty much me done. I also love Sam McKnight’s hair products, especially the Cool Girl spray, which he says he made for me."

What’s on your bedside table?

"I have a rose quartz candle, it brings peace and calm to the room. I also keep my Golden Nectar there, as I take a couple of drops before bed to help me unwind."
